Please mark your calendars now for December 12, 2009 which is Mike Judge Day. On this day we will all link up in thought sending love out to this young man who passed in 2006. I will be updating this blog with information about Mike. Please stay with us on this. Thank You.
The PRAYER REGISTRY has only been in existence for 6 months and already two of our kids have come through reputable mediums expressing gratitude for the prayers which they say they feel as positive energy around them. Joshua Dapp said that he was “uplifted”. My son Danny describes it as “catching rides”. The idea that we can still do something to help our kids, wherever they are, is fantastic. Please join us and let others know. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!
I have been in touch with Mike’s mom Nada for over a year now. She has been generous to share with us writings given to her by some of Mike’s friends. I will post many of them over the next week leading up to the 12th, so that you can get a sense of who Mike Judge is.
Although I never met Mike, I had an instant feeling of warmth for him when his mother sent me a picture of him last year. After reading descriptions of him, however, I have grown even fonder still.
Enjoy the following description of Mike Judge. Others will follow.
Mike’s Unbounded Compassion
Mike and I were walking to a buddy’s place in Detriot. On the way we came across a homeless man. The guy wasn’t begging or acting creepy, he was just lying in the grass on a late afternoon. Mike stopped me and said, “I want to talk to this guy. “ He walked over and started a conversation with this stranger. We all talked for about 30 minutes about life and our pasts, really anything that popped into our minds. This fellow really opened up to Mike and they started to get into a more discussion. Mike started to talk to him about education and trying to help this individual view certain things in a new light, a rejuvenated light. At the end of the conversation, this guy had a new view on life. I’m amazed at how important it was to Mile to help this stranger, how much compassion Mike had for a person he didn’t even know. His heart is truly full of empathy and love. Mike never ceased to amaze me.
I’ll never forget sitting in Mike’s car, outside of Bailey’s house (just me and Mike) and he told me I was his brother and even though we both knew what was unspoken, Mike came out and said it, and just made me fell good. He always knew how to make someone feel good or laugh; he truly had a gift for that.
My mom and my dad for that matter, loved having Mike around. My mom would always ask, “Where’s Mike at?” She used to say, “Mike, he’s such a nice young man” and I know she cherished the moments with him. On a few occasions I had to say, “Okay Mike, let’s go downstairs” because he would talk to my mom for so long. Everyone loved him in my family, especially my brothers. Both my brothers looked up to him in so many respects, he touched everyone’s life in the Hollis household.
Mike was my best friend and my brother, part of me left with him. I love Mike and I know he loved me too. Mike is with all of us in spirit and heart, and I look forward to the day when I can give him a hug in heaven.
